Iceland Express puts the, um, “fly,” in “iPad”.*
In case you don’t have something better to do on our flights, we’re now offering a shiny new gadget for your fondling pleasure.
It’s called an “iPad.” (You may have heard of it.) And apparently we’re the first European airline to offer it as in-flight entertainment. Fancy that.
On it, you’ll be able to watch movies and television shows, listen to music, read magazines and play games. Also, waving it around is a really good way to get the immediate attention of our cabin crew.
We’ll start by offering it on all our transatlantic flights, but we’ll be rolling it out to the rest of our fleet over the next few months.
To everyone’s great surprise, our Ecommerce Manager (who has been meticulously testing every facet of our iPads in the last few months) is terribly excited about all of this. “We have been offering a mobile entertainment unit to our passenger for the past two years onboard our European flights, but now that Iceland Express is going transatlantic, it makes sense for us to invest in a device that is more geared towards long-haul.”
“But mostly it’s just really, really cool,” he added.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, we now fly twice a week (daily in summer) between London and New York, via Reykjavik. Prices start from £298 return including taxes.
Want to use our iPads? Renting them costs 1500 ISK / $13 / £9. Also, you’ll actually have to book a flight. But don’t worry, we fly to some pretty good places.
* Yes, we know that pun doesn’t really work.
