We’ll always have Paris. And Oslo, Bergen, Billund, Basel and Eindhoven

Línurnar skýrastIntroducing six more places from which to get to Reykjavík, fast and cheap.

From 14 CET (1pm British Time) today, Tuesday 24 October, Iceland Express is opening for sale flights to Iceland from fourteen places in Europe next summer.

That’s right — you’ll be able to fly to Iceland from London Stansted in the UK, Copenhagen and Billund in Denmark, Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, Oslo and Bergen in Norway, Paris Orly in France, Alicante in Spain, Berlin, Frankfurt Hahn, and Friedrichshafen in Germany, Basel in Switzerland, and Eindhoven in the Netherlands!

We feel so grown up!

Anyway. You can book a flight to Iceland next summer from these places after 14 CET today. The exact flight period can vary from place to place, but the summer schedule is in effect from 15 May to 15 September 2007.

Ready, set, go!

Update at 14 CET: Summer 2007 is now open for sale. Go, go, go!

Update at 22 CET: We’re sorry, but the Billund route is not open for sale yet. We’re working on it though!

Update on 22 November: Well, the Billund route is finally open for sale, but unfortunately we’ve had to cancel Bergen. Undskyld!

Very good you will fly out of Eindhoven. I will book for sure shotly.
But one little thing. There is a small mistake in the spelling. It is Eindhoven , Not Endhoven

  8. Dear Ladies and Gentlemen

thank you for the latest edition of your newsletter announcing several new destinations in your network. I was just a bit surprised that there is still no destination covering the north-western part of Germany which has no cheap flights to Iceland yet but a significant part of the German population living there.

I am hoping that you will continue to improve your network with a destination in this part of Germany.

    Best regards

I think this way many people in Spain would have the chance to go to your beautiful country. Thank you and hope to see you soon in more Spanish airports!!!

  13. Flying to Iceland from Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse is THE BEST NEWS of the year. It will be much easier to my son Nico living in Reykjavik with 3 children to visit us near Mulhouse. I’m travelling at least 4 times a year to Iceland most of the time from Frankfurt Rhein/Main. I’m very happy about this news. Thanks a lot to Icelandexpress !

  14. Why haven’t you added an Irish route? If Dublin airport is so overcrowded consider Cork International Airport in the Republic of Ireland’s second city.

It’s a real pain flying through London all the time to get to my second home.

  23. I´m still waiting for Hamburg, or something else in the north becoming an icelandexpress-airport…cause there is no possibility for german people, who are living in the north/west to get to an airport without a big effort for travelling, I´m always flying from Copenhagen, cause it´s usually the cheapest and it´s nothing shorter to go to Berlin or to Frankfurt from my place.

    bye

  24. I was in your country last summer with my 17 year old son and it was marvellous, the unspoilt landscape, the people, the glaciers, the mountains, even the roads, and I was planning to go back next summer, but now with your policy of starting killing whales again I have decided to look for another place. It is a pity that such a beautiful country goes back to such barbaric attitudes again.

  25. Hallo,

Can I suggest that the management of Icelandexpress consider opening up a route from Manchester.

  26. Hi, I have been to Ísland in the Summer of 2004 and I am completly addicted to thisa country. It’s a country that I would visit more times. I am very fortunate because I have friends in Akureiri ( don’t know if the word is correctly written) and Hella, so I was able to visit almost all the country.
I am from Portugal and to have a cheaper flight I flew from Oporto to Copenhagen, ( I stayed there 8 hours to get a flight to Reykjavík) ’cause a friend from Iceland was able to get me a cheaper ticket.
All this to tell you that would be great to have flights from Lisbon or Oporto. I know that in summer you sometimes have flights from Algarve, but it’s far and expensive.
So, why don’t you think about it?????
    My best regards

  36. To everyone — sincere thanks for all your comments.

Special thanks to all of you who suggested other new destinations — Ireland, Poland and Northern-Germany seem to be most popular. We’ll make sure this gets to the powers that be.

To Jens (and probably some other people who were confused by this): Sorry, but Billund won’t be opened for sale just yet (see the update in the text).

To Brennivin: Don’t know what happened with Eindhoven there, but everything seems to be in order now. We like your name, by the way.

And finally, to those of you WRITING IN UPPERCASE WITH LOTS OF EXCLAMATION MARKS — please relax and remember to take your pills.

Again — thanks from the team here at Iceland Express.

  57. I hold a senior position in a major business within the New Zealand travel industry and I wish to advise that, given Iceland’s appalling decision to continue whaling, I am now strongly advising travellers to refrain from visiting Iceland or using any service owned or operated by Icelandic interests.

In my mind, Iceland has chosen to ride roughshod over the interests of the wider World community on this matter and it is time to make Iceland aware of the depth of public opinion against this industry.

I regret having to adopt these actions but I refuse to foster the interests of any nation operating such an appalling industry. The health of life in our oceans is vital to the whole World.

Bob Greenie Posted 12 January 2007 at 23:45 | Permalink
  58. Iceland is beautiful. A country blessed by God and kissed by nature. Nature lovers should not die without visiting Iceland at least once.
True, whaling is nearly barbaric, but why should one deprive himself from the inspiring, uplifting and breath-taking experience of being in Iceland because of some air-headed cold-hearted politician sitting at his desk making the wrong decisions? It is not the people of Iceland that made that decision, but a few crooks in advantaged positions.
We cannot throw the baby out with the bath water.

  61. Iceland is an amazing place to visit, I’ve been there in June of last year. I flew Iceland Express from Keflavik to Berlin and I noticed that the majority of passengers on board were Poles. I’ve also read elsewhere that they make up one of Iceland’s largest minority groups, if not the largest. In my opinion, a direct flight between Keflavik and Warsaw or Krakow is a sure success. To back my opinion up,Malev is regularly running charter flights from Keflavik to Krakow. Hope you look into it before the competition does.

    See you guys in Iceland!

  65. Wow, it makes us all here at Iceland Express feel great to see so many people asking for new routes. Keep it up! Your voices are heard.

For now, we’ve added five new European routes for the summer (Paris, Eindhoven, Oslo, Basel, and Billund), as well as a new flight to Egilsstaður in Eastern Iceland from Copenhagen.

If all goes according to plan, our total domination of the world’s airline market should be complete within the next ten years, starting with a takover of the government of…
