Introducing six more places from which to get to Reykjavík, fast and cheap.
From 14 CET (1pm British Time) today, Tuesday 24 October, Iceland Express is opening for sale flights to Iceland from fourteen places in Europe next summer.
That’s right — you’ll be able to fly to Iceland from London Stansted in the UK, Copenhagen and Billund in Denmark, Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, Oslo and Bergen in Norway, Paris Orly in France, Alicante in Spain, Berlin, Frankfurt Hahn, and Friedrichshafen in Germany, Basel in Switzerland, and Eindhoven in the Netherlands!
We feel so grown up!
Anyway. You can book a flight to Iceland next summer from these places after 14 CET today. The exact flight period can vary from place to place, but the summer schedule is in effect from 15 May to 15 September 2007.
Update at 14 CET: Summer 2007 is now open for sale. Go, go, go!
Update at 22 CET: We’re sorry, but the Billund route is not open for sale yet. We’re working on it though!
Update on 22 November: Well, the Billund route is finally open for sale, but unfortunately we’ve had to cancel Bergen. Undskyld!

Good morning
Very good you will fly out of Eindhoven. I will book for sure shotly.
But one little thing. There is a small mistake in the spelling. It is Eindhoven , Not Endhoven
all the best and greetings
Cor Toonstra
I am so disappointed that Iceland is killing whales.
STOP WHALING – ICELAND WAS ALWAYS ON MY LIST OF PLACES TO VISIT – WHAT’S THE POINT OF A TOURIST INDUSTRY FOR WHALE-WATCHING WHEN YOUR COUNTRY HAS BEGUN SLAUGHTERING THEM AGAIN
sumar 07 segið þið, en samt er ekki hægt að bóka lengra en 15. mai.
What about Poland?
You are open new fly from Spain, Switzerland and other country… and polish people waiting for fly… How long?
Best wishes
gregory
Would be great if you would start flying from Dublin, Ireland :)
Er einhver möguleiki að þið farið að fljúga til Malaga á Spáni í bráð? Það yrði velþegið af mörgum….
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen
thank you for the latest edition of your newsletter announcing several new destinations in your network. I was just a bit surprised that there is still no destination covering the north-western part of Germany which has no cheap flights to Iceland yet but a significant part of the German population living there.
I am hoping that you will continue to improve your network with a destination in this part of Germany.
Best regards
Philipp Kunert

Great news. Now all I need is a direct route to Dublin… but I heard a rumour that Ryan Air are going to fly here, fingers crossed.
Hae!
It might not be an important comment, but:
You really made my day with this message!! so glad you added an airport in my country (Basel) to your cooperators. I will use this new connection as soon as possible. Thank you! Kind regards,
Rebecca
When are you guys going to have direct flighs to and from Ireland?
I live in Spain and my dream is to visit Iceland one day. I would love if Iceland Express could expand to more airports in Spain, not only Alicante. I think this way many people in Spain would have the chance to go to your beautiful country. Thank you and hope to see you soon in more Spanish airports!!!
Flying to Iceland from Euroairport Basel-Mulhouse is THE BEST NEWS of the year. It will be much easier to my son Nico living in Reykjavik with 3 children to visit us near Mulhouse. I’m travelling at least 4 times a year to Iceland most of the time from Frankfurt Rhein/Main. I’m very happy about this news. Thanks a lot to Icelandexpress !
Best regards
Claude Liebing
Why haven’t you added an Irish route? If Dublin airport is so overcrowded consider Cork International Airport in the Republic of Ireland’s second city.
It’s a real pain flying through London all the time to get to my second home.
Eavan
Oh! This is great! I still miss some direct flight to Northern Spain (Bilbao/Santander/Vitoria) or to Madrid but this news means to me more possibilities to visit my friends and family in Spain.
You do not open new routes off from Italy? Milan, Rome, Naples?
That is great news.
But why Billund? Actually Hamburg would be much better, or maybe Luebeck. The Hamburg region is bigger ( from population point of view ) than whole Denmark.
Regards from Central Europe
Joerg
please, add some italian airport!
there’relots of people that would be go tom iceland!
bye
It would be fantastic if you started flying to and from Ireland direct.
hi -if you flew out of leeds or manchester i would use you again. stanstead is too far.
You annonced in the blog that BLL will be opened, but it does not appear on the pull-down menus! What happened?
How can I book, if no dates to choose for flights are available during the summer period? If I choose Eindhoven, no destination airport is available.
There seem to be some bugs…
I´m still waiting for Hamburg, or something else in the north becoming an icelandexpress-airport…cause there is no possibility for german people, who are living in the north/west to get to an airport without a big effort for travelling, I´m always flying from Copenhagen, cause it´s usually the cheapest and it´s nothing shorter to go to Berlin or to Frankfurt from my place.
bye
I was in your country last summer with my 17 year old son and it was marvellous, the unspoilt landscape, the people, the glaciers, the mountains, even the roads, and I was planning to go back next summer, but now with your policy of starting killing whales again I have decided to look for another place. It is a pity that such a beautiful country goes back to such barbaric attitudes again.
Hallo,
Can I suggest that the management of Icelandexpress consider opening up a route from Manchester.
Stanstead is not an easy location to get to for a huge proportion of the English population
Hi, I have been to Ísland in the Summer of 2004 and I am completly addicted to thisa country. It’s a country that I would visit more times. I am very fortunate because I have friends in Akureiri ( don’t know if the word is correctly written) and Hella, so I was able to visit almost all the country.
I am from Portugal and to have a cheaper flight I flew from Oporto to Copenhagen, ( I stayed there 8 hours to get a flight to Reykjavík) ’cause a friend from Iceland was able to get me a cheaper ticket.
All this to tell you that would be great to have flights from Lisbon or Oporto. I know that in summer you sometimes have flights from Algarve, but it’s far and expensive.
So, why don’t you think about it?????
My best regards
Manuela
What about a direct service from Ireland to Iceland? It would make a huge difference to my family, half who live in Ireland and the other half in Iceland.
I agree with all those who still miss a route from Italy. I would LOVE a direct flight from Rome to Iceland! ciao!!!
Please add a northern England aiport so we don’t have to travel to London (dreadful place)
Hope you start flying to Ireland soon – how about Shannon – the most direct flight to Iceland there is!! I have to fly from Shannon to London to fly to Iceland back out over Shannon!!
We are going to Iceland next year for our second visit but are not happy that we have to travel to London for the flight. I’m sure flights from the north of England would be popular, if they had been available we would have visited Iceland more regularly.
Would love if you started flying from Dublin!!
You annonced in the news that Billund will be opened, but nothing is happend.
And what about Poland???:) There are so many Polish people living on Iceland, and even more coming to visit them… Why not opening new routes to Poland??????:)
Best regards.
Dominika
AND ONE MORE THING FROM ME!!!! ICELAND, YOU’VE STARTED KILLING WHALES , IT’S JUST UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
To everyone — sincere thanks for all your comments.
Special thanks to all of you who suggested other new destinations — Ireland, Poland and Northern-Germany seem to be most popular. We’ll make sure this gets to the powers that be.
To Jens (and probably some other people who were confused by this): Sorry, but Billund won’t be opened for sale just yet (see the update in the text).
To Brennivin: Don’t know what happened with Eindhoven there, but everything seems to be in order now. We like your name, by the way.
And finally, to those of you WRITING IN UPPERCASE WITH LOTS OF EXCLAMATION MARKS — please relax and remember to take your pills.
Again — thanks from the team here at Iceland Express.
How about Scotland? I totally agree with Alan, London is an awful place. A flight from Edinburgh or Glasgow or even Prestwick would be better than Stanstead for a lot of us.
ITALY STILL WAITING
I would love to visit Iceland as some of my friends have been there.
When are you going to fly from Dublin? I think a route out of Ireland would do very well!!!
Would be great if you could get flights from Northern UK Manchester would be great.
Just another point if I didn’t have to travel to Iceland for work I would NOT visit now you have started to kill whales again
STOP KILLING WHALES !
half million tourists and many Icelanders not happy about it
Nikhilananda Dasa
That’s is good news, flying from Eindhoven !
We’ll waiting for a long time.
That terrible solution driving on dutch roads and railways to Schiphol (Amsterdam Int. airport), always traffic jams and railway problems !
When are we able to fly from Billund to Iceland ??
when are you going to offer flights to iceland from other uk airports?
bristol/cardiff would be great.
Any chance of flights from the UK to Akureyri?
Leif — Billund is open for sale now, finally!
Jon — We don’t have any plans for flights from the UK to Akureyri (in the North of Iceland). We do, however, fly there from Copenhagen.
I moved to Iceland last summer and I was pretty happy to hear that you are going to fly between Basel and Reykjavik. This makes it much easier for me and my family to visit eachother. But it is sad that you are only flying over the summer, and that the cheap flights were sold out very soon!
Best regards
Anja
Come on! on flight from Milan Bergamo!!!
Please, start flying out from the one of the airports in Poland, eg. Gdansk or Poznan. There are lots of people in Poland, who are interested in flights to Iceland. So am I.
Miho
Please add Helsinki to your network system soon, flights via Stockholm far too expensive.
It would be very nice as other people said to open a new route to Italy, especially Rome!
Many Italians started to fly to Iceland so it would be great to have a connection between these 2 countries!
Yes, I totally agree with a new route to/from Dublin, that’ll be fantastic!!!!
All the best!
what happend to Bergen? Too much rain to land the plane? Great with opening to Oslo btw. An the whole whaling thing is not up to you guys so I don’t blame you. -Benjamin Laszloson :p
I’m trying to get to Reykjavik via Dublin or Gdansk this summer – any plans on opening those routs? Any suggestions for alternatives?
I just wanted to add another request for a direct flight from Ireland – Cork, Shannon or Dublin please!
ROME,ITALY PLEASE!!1
I hold a senior position in a major business within the New Zealand travel industry and I wish to advise that, given Iceland’s appalling decision to continue whaling, I am now strongly advising travellers to refrain from visiting Iceland or using any service owned or operated by Icelandic interests.
In my mind, Iceland has chosen to ride roughshod over the interests of the wider World community on this matter and it is time to make Iceland aware of the depth of public opinion against this industry.
I regret having to adopt these actions but I refuse to foster the interests of any nation operating such an appalling industry. The health of life in our oceans is vital to the whole World.
Iceland is beautiful. A country blessed by God and kissed by nature. Nature lovers should not die without visiting Iceland at least once.
True, whaling is nearly barbaric, but why should one deprive himself from the inspiring, uplifting and breath-taking experience of being in Iceland because of some air-headed cold-hearted politician sitting at his desk making the wrong decisions? It is not the people of Iceland that made that decision, but a few crooks in advantaged positions.
We cannot throw the baby out with the bath water.
Really great thing that Basel is now connected to Iceland!
Iceland is an amazing place to visit, I’ve been there in June of last year. I flew Iceland Express from Keflavik to Berlin and I noticed that the majority of passengers on board were Poles. I’ve also read elsewhere that they make up one of Iceland’s largest minority groups, if not the largest. In my opinion, a direct flight between Keflavik and Warsaw or Krakow is a sure success. To back my opinion up,Malev is regularly running charter flights from Keflavik to Krakow. Hope you look into it before the competition does.
See you guys in Iceland!
Post Scriptum:
Bless you for selling Viking on your flights, that stuff is amazing!
ok,
Italy ‘s next country to fly to/from and a STOP
to WHALING would be appreciated, if you want
to see me again.
Cheers.
A direct flight from an Irish airport – especially Shannon, would do really well. Know lots of people very interested in visiting Iceland but can’t get there without a lot of hassle.
Wow, it makes us all here at Iceland Express feel great to see so many people asking for new routes. Keep it up! Your voices are heard.
For now, we’ve added five new European routes for the summer (Paris, Eindhoven, Oslo, Basel, and Billund), as well as a new flight to Egilsstaður in Eastern Iceland from Copenhagen.
If all goes according to plan, our total domination of the world’s airline market should be complete within the next ten years, starting with a takover of the government of…
Oh. Perhaps I’ve said too much.
Nice airline, fly to Ireland? Cork or shannon would rock for me :)
Just back from a visit to Iceland. PLEASE begin direct flights soon from Dublin as we don’t want to have to go through Stanstead again!
I agree with an Irish route, I wouldlove to see you fly out of Dublin. Would save a lot of grief!
Hey, what happened to Oslo!
